Audi Q5 2021 review

The mid-size SUV is now a brand’s most crucial model.

Now the defining volume seller of our age, the ever-popular category transcends brand and market position – and Audi is no exception.

To that end, the German brand reminds us that Q5 is its most successful SUV, having sold almost 40,000 units in Australia so far. No pressure on this new one then, which brings some much-needed updates to the current-generation SUV which launched back in 2017.

Has Audi done enough to keep the Q5 sticking it to its (also very good) arch-rivals from Germany and the world for years to come? We sampled the updated car at its Australian launch to find out.

Adequate performance? 0-100 6.3s quoted (faster in real world), which lines up with X3 30i and GLC300. I would think a 6 second car at ~2t would be considered pretty good performance ? Both BMW and Merc are more expensive as well. What are you comparing this to?

I have this car and for a 2021 it honestly feels left behind in tech, but like he mentioned, tiny changes does add up behind the wheel. I bought it for the safety reason, as I had an 2019 A class which I got t-boned by a drunk driver and broke my legs. Definitely feel safer in this!

I still prefer the Skoda Kodiaq RS or Sportline

Well these vehicles have to meet the lates European Emission Standards, which is why they have modified the engines to this aim. Whilst they develop fully electric vehicles.

2021 Audi Q5 has a MAJOR design flaw and a SIGNFICANT SAFETY ISSUE that Audi is fully aware of, doesn’t have a fix yet, so haven’t issued a recall or informed exiting owners. What’s worse is that they are still selling the car without disclosing the problem to prospective owners.
