I visited Russia as a tourist (Despite the Sanctions)

I wanted to see how life in Russia after sanctions is, so I made a tourist visa online and I went to the only land border that connects Europe with Russia and crossed into Kaliningrad. Visiting Russia as a tourist is currently very challenging, but traveling to Kaliningrad (Russia's Exclave in the Heart of Europe), was absolutely worth it!

Ppl be treating visiting Russia like an extreme tourism when its essentially a regular Eastern European country with open borders and tourist infrastructure. The West is trying to isolate Russia, but Russia is not isolating itself - go get a Visa and come as a tourist at any time

Visa and MasterCard can still be used to pay in Russia but only if the card was issued by a Russian bank. The banks still have their obligations to their clients - they have only been cut off from Swift (the international payments) system. Well, rather, the regular people were. Transactions between countries are still going but there are basically case-by-case negotiations at the governments level. Even our neighbours are preferring more inconspicuous ways so avoid getting sanctioned themselves.
