Sacrifice of form and control: Kipping often involves using momentum to complete a movement, which can result in sacrificing proper form and control. This can lead to ineffective training and decreased strength gains.

Lack of emphasis on strength: Kipping movements rely heavily on momentum, which means that the focus is more on generating momentum than building strength. This can lead to imbalances in your training program and may not be the best approach for long-term strength gains.

really a life changer to prioritize the form over the numbers of reps. Starting with Pulls ups. I really see no one at my gym capable to do a full range pull up

In gymnastics, kipping is its own separate skill. It requires proper form and doing so when you’re not supposed to will get you points deducted

Kipping is a progression. More advanced than a negative, less advanced than a pure rep. Every progress has its place.

It might be worth to learn how to kip well, though. It could come in handy in situations where you're not training and the goal is just to get up there as efficiently as possible.

It's wrong when people kip but then pretend they did an actual pullup

I do like pullups strict and then a little kipping to get the extra few reps to complete failure

He’s very correct. When I stopped kipping and started only strict form my strength increased a ton. It sucks at first to not be able to do nearly as many reps but worth it

I used bands to stop kipping. It definitely worked for me👍💪

As a climber who began really weak I always used as much momentum as possible in my climbing; when I started training I was not weak anymore thanks to climbing but I used momentum on every movements. Rings made me realize I was doing things wrong, I started training with strict form and guess what ? My momentum skills added to my new strength helped me a lot in my climbing. When you train correctly you cant do anything else than improve.

Kipping can be used after reaching failure with strict form to push the muscles past their limits

Keeping though can help in some cases. For example when learning the muscle up, keeping can be used so that you can understand the movement pattern

It’s a great training tool to work muscles in those movement patterns you’re not yet used to.
Don’t treat it like a sin when used in a beneficial manner

It would have been harder for me to learn a strict muscle up if I didn't learn the kipping one first
