Why THIS is the BEST episode of G5!

MLP G5's Portrait for a Princess is the BEST episode for so many reasons, but what was the best part? The characters? The song Portrait Day? FEEDBAG!? Lot's to dive into with this episode!

But at least you found something in G5 you can appreciate, even I am aware of the problems, but I also agree that this episode is the best we got from G5 and that the characters are the reason, thats why I made a video on those characters, mostly talking about this episode (shameless advertisement succesfully inserted).

And bold move to make a positive video despite knowing that it likely wont get as many views, and you absolutely picked the right topic.

I think another the reason this episode works is because the cast is smaller and only focus’s on two characters rather than shoehorning in the rest of the cast into the story

I'm so thrilled I'm not the only one who throught this episode was the best of Chapter 2. I love the Dynamic between Pipp and Zipp and this episode puts that on full display. Putting both of them through a huge argument only to then make up in the end leads to some great character development.

I also wish that we got to hear more of Queen Haven's songs in this episode.
Now let's see if we can find an episode in g3 that fans despite hating g3 actually enjoyed.

I'm so happy that this episode is getting the love I felt it really deserved while watching it. I love Zipp and Pipp's dynamic and I'm happy we're getting more on it. The Portrait Day song is so lovely and it was quite cool to hear Zipp sing. Seeing a bit more of her softer side with Pipp was quite nice as well. We Definitely need more of these two.

This is my favorite episode in MYM so far, I couldn’t agree more with your reasons! In addition, I love it because it doesn’t try to shove all the main cast in there without reason/very little reason like some of the other episodes. Not to say it’s bad to try and include everyone in every episode, but if they don’t have a reason to be there, then they’re best left out.

please tell me I'm not the only one who considers zipp to be the true protagonist of MYM.

she is the one who tries to solve the problems of the plots, she researches about the past of equestria and who demonstrates the most individuality.

Zipp is the best character and now i want that in a possible g6 we have a pegasus as protagonists MLP knows how to make a cool Pegasus with multicolored hair

The bar is already so eggregiously low, that even the table scraps feel like a meal if your starved out long enough. Do yourselves a favor and watch any previous generations, they worth it!

I really enjoy that episode the best and I have to agree, it's very well written compared to other episodes in general. It's nice to hear a positive review from ya sometimes as it can definitely help not only balance out between the good and bad to better help viewers to build their own opinions, but also not completely shed bad light on G5 series as I believe despite at their many fail attempts, from the good parts, it deserved to be shined. Sure it really needs a huge improvement, but I really hope the in the future, they would gradually realize what episodes hit off better and help compare em to what and how they should write and do episodes.

After all the creator was indeed passionate about this G5 project, but I feel the lack of skills in story writing is what caused the show to kinda flop up and down. Mainly on the down parts.

My biggest complaint about G5 is that how apparently Twilight and her friends pretty much failed in their attempts to bring friendship to all of Equestria...and my question is WHY?! I realize that without struggle and conflict there is no story but there are ways to do this WITHOUT sacrificing the accomplishments of the previous series.

A great example of this is another Hasbro series, Transformers namely G1 and Beastwars. In G1 we had the Autobots managing to defeat the Decepticons and from there we learned they established a lasting peace. And it wasn't until the time of Beastwars that another conflict arose. Both series tied into one another nicely without making the efforts of the previous show seem pointless....something they completely botched up in Beast Machines (but thats a story for another day)

Anyway I said all of that to say this. There was a big enough time gap between G4 and G5 for things to gradually develop to what we had in the opening without having to throw Twilight and her friends under the bus.

I was so relieved to get an episode where sparky didn’t exists…my god I hate that dragon with a burning passion. I see him as just a marketing thing. Trying to make him ‘ cute and adorable ‘ intentionally, just for hasbro think that people would love him. To buy toys

For me the best episode was the one about the sleepover, it was the one that explained the most lore about the series, in addition to the fact that Izzy and Misty are really cute and stole the limelight throughout the series xD
Personally, I still like the Christmas special more, there was no plot (and the biggest problem was trying to have one) but it was the most entertaining thing to see it complete and I never tire of watching it (and on top of that it lasted 45 minutes) for It must be something, they did something well, I don't know what but well xD
And from Portrait Day, the first time was fine... But the problem is that the plot seems very slow at the beginning when I watch it again, but the top 3 episodes were

Another flaw of this episode is an animation error when Pipp is looking at her reflection in some water and her mane style in the reflection is is on the wrong side so it’s opposite from where it should be in the reflection. However the animators get the reflections right during the song sequence. It’s early days for G5 still so it’s cool.
