@christo930 now u know it's difficult to post links on youtube. but the study looked at casual relationships amongst gay men years. a requirement to be in the study was that you had to have been at least two relationships during a six month period. Naturally that means gay men in monogamous relationships were already omitted from the study.

Click the RWWBlog link and go to their website. RWW details exactly how Jeffress misreps that study.

From RWW:
In a sermon earlier this year called “What to Say to Those Who Are Gay, ” Jeffress cited a study from the Netherlands to bolster his argument that gays are incapable of having long-term, monogamous relationships. As Jim Burroway notes, the study of gay men in Amsterdam was conducted in the 1980s and the 1990s and was far from representative of the gay community

@Ranokian

To post links, do it as follows:

1. chop off everything up to and including the w w w

2. replace the dot after the last w with the letters DOT

It works for me - hope that helps : )

Well I cant post a link here, you tube wont allow it. However, this is the search string for google:
The contribution of steady and casual partnerships to the incidence of HIV infection among homosexual men in Amsterdam.
The website is "The official journal of the International aids society."
The study was NEVER intended to investigate how long gay relationships last. It never intended to say anything about gay marriage or relationships of gays in particular.

Does anyone have a link to this study? If it's being misrepresented, we should be able to see it for ourselves.

….and was far from representative of the gay community as it “was heavily weighted with HIV/AIDS patients, excluded monogamous participants, was predominantly urban, and consisted only of those under the age of thirty.” Furthermore, study participants didn’t have the right to marry since marriage equality wasn’t enacted in the Netherlands until 2001.

80 percent of heterosexual couples have admitted to cheating on their spouses at least once in their lifetime. 80. I'm a christian and if I hear another christian freak out over the "sanctity of marriage, " i'm going to flip out. let people marry whoever they want.

Just because YOU are not monogamous, doesn't mean the rest of the gay community is the same as you.
