Intersection of a Cylinder & a Cone

Inclined catting-plane method

A series of cutting planes passing through the vertex of the cone and the edge view of the cylinder will locate the common points of intersection between the cone and the cylinder.

Horizontal catting-plane method

A series of horizontal cutting planes will cut straight-line elements from the cylinder and circles from the cone. Their intersections will determine common points on the line of intersection of the cone and cylinder.
