Many Americans are questioning the financial health of the U.S. High inflation, rising interest rates, a sluggish supply chain and the war in Ukraine have created conditions for a possible recession. Yet economists say otherwise and that the economy is doing OK. Christopher Rugaber, an economics reporter for the Associated Press, explains why the economic forecast is showing a small chance of a recession.

The recession's already here. Q1 GDP contracted. If Q2 does the same, that is the definition of a recession: two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth.

With all due respect to this guy you know he’s holding back on what’s really happening.

The real tragedy regarding the possible economic collapse of the US economy is the working class individuals and families affected by a possible recession.

Ukraine has very little to do with the coming recession. We had no growth while inflation was soaring, there is only two other ways to fix inflation: global war or recession. It is also the first government caused recession in history. Companies were not allowed to take risks

It's not strong spending. We're buying things that cost alot more. That's going to stop soon, when we can't afford to eat, we'll stop buying anything we don't have to have.

Most times it amazes me greatly the way I move from an average lifestyle to earning over 63k per month, utter shock is the word. have understood a lot in the past few years to doubt that opportunities abound in the financial markets, The only thing is to know where to focus.

Clearly the hosts and the journalist are completely clueless. The definition of a 'recession' is two consecutive quarters of negative growth. We are already past the halfway definition of that.

not sure how this guy thinks americans have less debt. Student loans car loans etc are staples of american society. My advice is to get out of all debt asap, youll need that extra money to pay your rising bills and rising food/fuel prices. FJB

News have already caught up to the consumer. Retailer results are in and profits are on the decline due in part to the higher wages as well the other factors in play across the world.

Are these the same “experts” who said “the housing market is doing great! 2008 is gonna be a great year for real estate!”

"The effects of the last one are still being felt more than a decade later?" What effects from the last (2008-09) recession are people still feeling? The interviewer asking a question that implies that as truth is almost insulting, . CBS needs to send their moderators to an Econ 101 class.

Yeah, but no where near 2008..."

Too much money in circulation, overpriced goods on everything, supply chain's and cost of wages and housing.
It needs a correction
