I hate that journalists even engage in stupid conversations like this. Objectivity is not about giving every view point, it’s about giving facts in context of the reality we all live in.

Millions of people have served in the military across the branches. There are different missions being done simultaneously, and every single service member has a role. They all serve this country and we are grateful for their service, no matter how long they serve or in what capacity.

Letting the attack scare you away from showcasing his service is exactly what they hope for. He served 25 yrs and wanted to run for congress. Was he supposed to wait until he served 31 years

All service members consider themselves "a band of brothers/sisters". They never degrade another especially for policaĺ gain. They stand TOGETHER not against each other!!

As a U.S. Army veteran, which Chuck Todd is not, it is absolutely stolen valor.

Walz was a Master Sergeant (E8) and separated service as an E8. He did not attend or complete the necessary training to be promoted officially to E9, a Sergeant Major. Furthermore, he was not deployed to a theater of operation (war zone) to be eligible for the “Command” prefix and rank of CSM (E9).

Walz is lying when he claims to be a retired CSM. The media could very easily Foia his DD214 and accurate report on his false claims.

Chuck Todd shows stolen valor if he claims to be a journalist / reporter. He is nothing more than a DNC operative on TV.

Why do these talking heads keep saying Walz"left" the military? He retired after serving 24 years...and he earned that right to retire when he wanted to. It wasn't until two months later that his unit got orders to Iraq.

The service of military personnel that serve in peacetime is also necessary to the maintenance of our military strength. Those that train and maintain our military strength also serve with pride and their service should also be recognized and applauded.

Do you do ANY investigative reporting? There are SEVERAL articles that explain things from THE MINNESOTA NATIONAL GUARD stating that Waltz applied to leave the Guard 2 MONTHS BEFORE the deployment order.

WALZ clearly lied about his rank, plus he never carried a weapon in combat as he claimed. And he quit on his soldiers because he was afraid of going to Iraq. He abandoned his unit. The guys got no honor or valor. The military confirmed everything about him.

Mr. Todd, didn't you see the great embarrassing clip of JD Vance rushing up to VP Harris's Air Force Two Plane on the tarmac in Wisconsin and complaining to a very silent press starring him in the face, that he'll soon be on Air Force Two Plane in three months and that she's not speaking to the press ? Talk about your favored Vance doing that, Todd.

Walz made his decision to leave service to run for Congress a year before it was decided to send his unit to combat. I am beyond frustrated when mainstream media (whom I used to religiously follow) do not know or chooses not to cite such facts. Those who served with him and the military have corroberated this.

When a high ranking officer or enlisted soldier retires the processes involved are complex and take time, you don't want any problems with the VA or benefits you should be receiving, also the command structure will need to move slots and personnel around so there is no gap in coverage. Starting this process 9 months to a year out is very common so his retirement should have been started well before his unit was given notice to deploy.

Chuck you use to be fact based what happened. He put request in two months before and then went into congress.

I totally disagree. His record of fighting for veterans in Congress alone gives plenty of clout.

Governor Walz served 24 years in national guard then, fought for veterans in congress and since. Name one thing Vance has done.
