‘Chimp Crazy’ dives into the eccentric world of ‘monkey moms’

“Tiger King” director Eric Goode is back with a new docuseries called “Chimp Crazy” that focuses on the people whose lives are all-consumed by raising chimpanzees and monkeys like they’re members of their own families. NBC’s Joe Fryer sits down with Goode for a first look on TODAY.

Just watched the first episode. Tonia Haddix is totally unhinged especially when she said she loved her chimps more than her kids. Not only the way those chimps were living in her care is wrong, but so is her obsession with the apes. If she truly loved the apes, she would let them live in credited animal sanctuaries and not try to keep them as pets. She completely forgot how wildly unpredictable chimpanzees are. Travis rings a bell? I sincerely think Tonia needs mental health counseling. Everything she says is screams "I am not okay in the head" to me.

This is unethical.

Most will have their teeth yanked out, and wind up in sanctuaries that are underfunded.

Sometimes the bond can seem like it's deeper because animals go through ALOT, AND IN THE WILD THEY GO through alot. And you want to be loved, and to not be hungry, and give them a good life. They realize it. Some animals somewhat see it. But chimpanzees are soo much like humans and they don't belong to be locked up in a cell.
