One of cinema’s foundational allures — watching images together, in a room — is on hold.

I think it was the $38 popcorn that killed it first.

Be ready to say “back in my day we used to watch real movies in a movie theater”

Yeah my grandchildren are going to be like “y’all really paid to go sit in a big dark room with strangers to watch a movie??” 🤣🤣

People talking on their phones killed it for me long ago.

The last few times I went to a theater there were people talking, shining lights, throwing things, etc. and I decided that it wasn't any fun, so I haven't been in one in years.

As an introvert, going to the movies was one of my all time favorite things to do because it allowed me to be around people while still keeping to myself. This is by far the one thing I miss most during this pandemic.

Nothing like spending $10 for a small soda that i will need to refill 5 minutes into the movie then have to go to the bathroom halfway way through and not being able to pause it and coming back to your seat next to the kid who's parents are doing nothing about the kid talking and yelling. yes the movies

wealthy people with private cinema are not affected.

Pretty sure the experience was already dying with obscene pricing.

Theater etiquette among patrons has gone downhill over the last 10 years, based on my own experiences. Am I wrong?

I definitely miss the big screen experience. With some big movies scheduled for release this summer, I wonder how they will be affected by the current pandemic. I definitely would rather watch Wonder Woman on the big screen but it really depends on how things go 🎥🎞🦸‍♀️🦹‍♀️

Mainstream movie theaters will close, but for people who love movies and the experience, places like The Alamo will survive.

On a side note, it feels like Vice is pumping out BS about certainty and what wills. Why not take a different approach and find out what theater owners are doing to make a comeback? You know, journalism.

I hated sitting next to strangers anyways.

Streaming subscription revenues don't bring in enough money to make the movies that people want to see. That's why all of the studios have delayed the release of their summer blockbusters rather than release them on streaming.
