So I've been asked this one quite a lot, and hope it's cleared things up for anyone curious!

Have any of you guys ever encountered an egregore?

Thank you for watching as always.

This is a very good explanation thank you. Another name for it is Tulpas and apparently there are people who specializes in making them.

Do you think this could also be what a lot of cults worship? Or smaller religions based in small areas? For example someone with the knowledge of Agregores/Tulpas and creates a fictional God and spreads it and convinces more people to believe to reinforce its power. No idea if that’s possible but what do you think?

Egregores?

so like, at one time the police didnt exist and then Robert Peel had an idea to form a group of "bobby's" and now the police are real... or is it more like, the police exist already (present day) but there are a group or groups of people that believe in the idea of "good cop / bad cop" a trope if you will, and so when people meet a member of the police they become one of those characters to the beleiver? or is it just for fictional things like, Harry Potter isnt a real person but we all know him because the character has so many layers and is known by so many people that he is, in theory, more real than the person that lived three doors down from you when you were 10?

im confused...

is confusion an Egregore? so, my lack of understanding causes me no physical pain, but is confusion an entity that creeps into the minds of people that lack a certain amount of knowledge with the sole intention of making them seek out an explanation all the while forcing them to frown like they have a head ache, a sort of mild one track minded possessor?

When I think of egregores I think of Santa Claus and how during that time of year how many people think of that same thing during that time.

So using this knowledge… the Devil from the christian bible is actually an Egregore. Because people manifested this evil entity from centuries and now he is a very powerful being. More reasons to live in fear T T

Over the past few years, Taylor Swift has become such an influential pop icon worldwide (most especially influencing pre-teens, teens, and an entire generation of middle-aged women who grew up with her) that I think it would be interesting to explore the role of egregore manifestation in the context of so much overwhelming emotional focus on her. There this, of course, Taylor the actual person, but there is also Taylor the pop persona that is mostly beyond Taylor's control. As I see it, if there is an egregore at work in this phenomenon, it is an overwhelmingly positive and empowering entity but, as you point out, it is always good to keep one's wits sharpened when dealing with such powerful entities. Taylor the persona/collective spirit famously has a tremendously polarizing social influence. A highly emotional cult of hardcore Taylor-haters has plagued her from the early days of her career. These folks don't simply dislike her music - they hate her; they hate her persona and they hate the fact that so many people love her. Which leads me wonder about a duality of conflicting egregores. I don't understand the dynamics well enough to theorize about what kind of manifestation the haters would be responsible for, but it seems to me that the core of it would be some form of jealousy and - according to many people - a great deal of generalized misogyny. Some would say that Taylor part of a general shift toward empowering the feminine and this greatly irritates anyone who opposes that shift. Anyway, for whatever it's worth, all of this popped into my mind as a result of watching your video.
