Τα αρχαιολογικά και ιστορικά ευρήματα του ιερού χώρου στη πόλη της Ελευσίνας δείχνουν μια συνεχή χρήση του για θρησκευτικές τελετουργίες από την Εποχή του Σιδήρου. [En] Many seek to decipher the secrets of the Eleusinian Mysteries through their ancestry. Archaeological and historical finds of the sanctuary in the city of Eleusis show a continuous use of it for religious rituals since the Iron Age. Whether these rituals were indigenous or foreign, or whether they remained the same over the years or concerned a theology that evolved and changed, are questions that concern scientists today. However, theories remain theories and the Eleusinian Mysteries remain mysteries to this day, although, in their time, they enjoyed immense popularity.
