Tip if you don't want muddy colors: instead of lowering the opacity on the brush itself try making a new layer and lowering the opacity on that instead.

Edit: or just make a layer under the sketch and put a solid color then merge.

Here are some tips:
• if the brush is muddy make the opacity more, or it may be a water colour brush so just go to type and switch it off!
• there is a lasso fill in the special section, click the brush below and switch to which one you want :)
•use blending layers like add or pin light for lighting
