I agree on waiting time. It delays the auditing process a lot. It’s funny when you work on multiple engagements and you get little confused when you jump from one engagement to another one since you thought “Oh yeah, I understand this fluctuation” and then you recognize “Oh no, it belongs to the other engagement, not this one”. LOL.

What advice would you give a middle-aged person who's considering going back to school for accounting?
I work in healthcare and I'm at a point in my career where there's really nowhere to go except upward into hospital administration, which i don't want to do. Realistically, if I were to start back to college now, I would likely be 44 or 45 years old when I graduated and would be competing with people 20 years younger for entry level accounting jobs. Is this idea crazy? Many thanks!

I got hired as a Federal Award Fiscal Auditor here in Arizona and i pretty much do the same thing as you, like auditing the LEAs and stuff like that but we’re not called state auditors. So would be the state auditors since we don’t have a comptroller

Have you found that a lot of government employees have an MBA? I work for a county comptroller's office in Florida and two workers, my manager, assistant finance director, budger director, COO, and COA all have their MBA and no one I know there is a CPA. I don't quite understand this.
