Bonded labour is very similar to how many privately owned prisons operate in the USA. Prison owners and management decide prison rules and are the sole enforcement, investigators, judges and enforcement of prison rules . People are given extra prison time on top of their court sentence and forced to work in prison owned manufacturing, horticulture and agricultural industry, often on contract to the federal, state or county authorities. There is no right to appeal or to even have a lawyer and no judges are involved in the extrajudicial sentences handed out by prison management . There has even been cases of people winning an appeal on the case that sent them to prison but still have to serve their punishment for not following prison rules. This is happening in the USA now in 2024 not in 1865

Can someone please explain the difference between thirteen colonies declaring their independence from the British empire and eleven states declaring their independence from the United States of America?
