One of my customers snapped at all the Spanish speaking customers. I replied back to her in Polish, then snapped my dad's a Polish immigrant. He escaped Communist Poland in the 60's. I've heard stories about the border patrol. Now I understand. This is extreme, and I'm from third world country.

I have lived in Louisiana and currently reside in Houston, and I have never seen a check point. The map showing the boarder zone is probably just to show where they have jurisdiction, not where you are likely to run into a check point. As far as I can tell getting pulled over at a check point is more of a problem between Texas and California (maybe close to the Canadian boarder). Coastal areas just monitor the docks.


But I have hear the behavior at check points to be exactly as described here if not more racist.

I’ve driven from El Paso to San Antonio, they just ask if you’re a US citizen, you say yes or no then drive off. They do check semis more often. They really only check cars if their dogs smell something or the car is weighing more than it should.
