At 3:34 those clams and barnacles made me think about Keelhauling. I read about this form of punishment that was used by the Dutch Navy back in the 1600's and also was written about by the Greeks as early as 700 BC. It had to be horrible.

Gen X here, I was 14 when we first got a boat and by the time I had a drivers license at 16 I was pulling the boat with friends to lake or 45 miles away to the saltwater and still have never had a goog an move. Now my brother in law had a leaky boat we'd go out on to run lines and fish in between, every hour or so we'd get it up on plane and pull the plug to drain out then tie off and fish some more.

I’ve seen many boneheaded boaters up here in Alaska. The pandemic hit and everyone got a boat and none of them know how to use it. Keeping the Coast Gaurd busy.

Your comments on taking care of your boat or engine or spot on. I owned a marine sales and service company for 25 years. 90% of our call outs were for people that never did zip to or for their boat until the day they wanted to go out. One customer bought a new engine from me and almost exactly a year later he called to say it was junk and wouldn't start, requesting a new engine. When we got to the boat we found he had left the engine in the salt water, without use or care and the lower unit and prop were like the boat hull you have here. The boater still demanded a new engine. Such crust.

Make sure you maintain your tow vehicle. Like not letting a raging river take it away.

I am a sail boater. Between memorial day and labor day I only go out during the week. Or... sometimes I will go out and anchor overnight and be sailing a couple hour before sun up. Sunrise sail. A few more hours and try to be off the water by 1030 or 1100. Too many idiots...

I disagree, I think hitting a sandbar doesn't but an end to your day.

In fact hitting a sandbar will extend your day indefinitely, regardless of where you want your day to be indefinitely extended, you just have to sit there.
