What DOWNTOWN PORTLAND OREGON Looks Like Today | Walking Portland

I decided to drive to Portland, Oregon, 3 hours south of Seattle, to do some relaxing, eating and walking. I walked from Pearl District to Old Town, to the Saturday Market by the Willamette River, to Downtown Portland and back to Pearl District.

Portland is currently in Phase 1 of Covid-19 Stay Home Order. Some businesses are boarded up - most likely due to fear of looting and vandalism from protests. This is Portland on Saturday June 27, 2020.

Thanks again for documenting all this.

I've always thought Portland was a more aesthetic city than Seattle, under whatever circumstances. I love that you included crossing the bridge in the editing! You do great work, thanks for showing us, impartially, what the media does not. It's more valuable than I can say.

I started going down to Portland regularly around 2004. It was a beautiful, charming city filled with nice hotels, stores, and restaurants but it has really deteriorated since then. The events of the last year have only accelerated these trends. It looks worse than New York in the 1970s. I doubt a Rudi Giuliani could resurrect it.
But then, people and their leaders have to WANT improvement instead of decay. That might be the root of the problem right there. You can't have civilization where people don't value it.

We need to start holding college professors responsible for the monsters they are creating.

Who cares ? .. Let them rot in the sewer of their own making.
I call it ...TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS. They call it .. "LET'S BLAME SOMEONE ELSE"!

I live here, I miss the old Portland, I no longer feel safe a lot of the time due to the junkies who live super close to schools and downtown. Tents everywhere, trash everywhere, I have seen people rocking in their tents from drugs and shouting and screaming. Recently graduated high school, we found needles all over or school lawn. Elementary and High schools are falling apart, ceiling tiles breaking and water leaking, lead in our pipes. It is sad how much money people pay for the lack of safety and prosperity we receive in our city. I have sympathy for people truly down on their luck in our city, however, the vast majority of homeless people I see are drug users downtown with no chance of ever getting off the street. I am truly saddened by how we are handling the homeless crisis. We need responsible people to help weed out the bad and the good homeless. It is a very difficult task, but it needs to be done because living like this is sad and to say the least, I no longer want to live here anymore until something is done about it.

I used to visit NW Portland every year. No longer. I stopped going when the mayor backed antifa criminals over law abiding taxpayers. I hated seeing the filth and vandalism that comes with ultra liberal policies. I did not like the stench of urine and human waste common in some of the parks. I didn't feel confident that the police would protect me if I needed them. No more Portland, no more Seattle for me.

From Seattle to Los Angeles, it appears that the Democrat politicians that rule cities prefer losers, vandals, criminals, anarchists, and insurgents over law abiding taxpayers who love living in the United States.

We were down there in that exact spot a few years ago. I bought a lovely necklace holder. Really enjoyed all the food. Did not enjoy stepping over homeless people and their stuff. I live about 30 min south of Seattle. It’s sad what has happened to these beautiful cities.

It looks pretty good actually. Looks cleaner than normal and not the hordes of homeless camping out everywhere and panhandling👍🏼

I was there about two weekends ago. Surprised to see that only one car was parked at normally a very busy parking lot.

Used to be a lot more crowed. People staying away due to Rioters who beat up anyone in the way.

Thanks so much Lao for the walk around. I always loved driving the big rig over the bridges in Portland at 3am as I was passing through. The night lights reflecting off the bay is always beautiful. :-)
