Racingline MK8 GTI / Golf R Power Control Module! | Dyno Test | DIY

Today we installed a Racingline Power Control Module (PCM) on our MK8 GTI! This is a Plug and play install that adds Horsepower and Torque, with the benefit of being easily removable if you wanna go back to stock! We dynoed before and after to see the real-world results of this piggyback. We also show you how to install it!

I've had it for awhile with a DSG car and its very interesting. The biggest difference you'll see is during the half mile i got a few more MPH and about a second quicker. 1/4 mile doesn't show much of a gain but still is quicker than stock. I think it would be alot quicker if it didn't somehow mess with the way that the DSG shifts.. above gear 3 it shifts significantly slower then it does without it, i've tested this is many surfaces and weather etc and the only way to kind of get around it is to shift manually earlier then you'd really want to.. which in turn just makes you about just as slow lol. It's a neat box though and they promise to give a free stage 1 tune if you buy it, which alone should be worth the purchase! (1/2 mile and 1/4 mile vids on my channel for anyone wonderin)

Just to give you the heads up for you or others wanting to enhance the power output of the car when it is in the factory warranty period.
For some years now the factory can check to see if the car has been enhanced for power output within 30 seconds of connecting to the factory server when the car is plugged in during routine servicing. Also any software updates required to fix a problem released by the factory will not be installed by the dealer as it may brick the ecu which will not be covered by warranty or by the tuning company, the cost will stay with the customer. Once a vehicle is identified as having OR HAD its power increased, has a
marker placed in the warranty field which can’t be removed even when you put it back to standard.
Any major expense to do with the driveline could be rejected if the marker is in place.
Due to the factory unfairly paying out over the years for failed engines, turbos, front and final drive units of modifiéd cars they came up with a solution to identify modified ecus either by flashing or piggy back type boxes.
All drivetrain warranty claims have to be accompanied by a test run in ODIS which downloads all ecu info to the factory server further enhancing their ability to build a case for refusal to pay out.
Don’t want to spoil your fun, just be aware of the consequences and don’t expect them to pay out if it grenades, which could have happened even without the power increase.
As long as you are aware of this info, you can do what you like.

For a 10% power increase, I would simply opt for a Throttle Booster and get the power delivery better for a 1/3 of the cost of this PCM.
