Neuro Psychological Assessment: What to Expect | Ohio State Medical Center

A typical neuro-psych or neuro-psychological assessment involves 4-6 hours of testing, says Tracy Shannon, PsyD, a rehabilitation psychologist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Each test is tailored to the patient, based on areas of concern, but may include review of memory, attention, problem solving skills, visual/special skills and language ability. Dr. Shannon emphasizes that it’s not a demanding pencil and paper kind of test, but involves a range of different activities.
