Fun running joke with friends that makes the ADHD anecdotes/bad stories easier: we've joked about any story being made better by finding $20. Now the easy out when you catch yourself doing this is to just wrap up and add, "then I found $20, " now at least the bad story is a somewhat amusing gag joke, because you're acknowledging that the story needed to be made better.
