In real life, Armor was acutally discontinued in the late 17th century with the advancement of gun power. Muskets can penetrate the thickest plate armor. Armor came back in World War I with helmets and later the bullets proof vest was invented which we use today.

They still used the vest.... its nkt like they didnt use protection... even naruto jnder hes jacket uses a chain vest.... its actually showed in the OG Naruto series... if i am right it was shown in the zabuza ark.... so they stoped using them becouse they found more effective ways to protect them self without giving up speed, agility and more becouse of that armor... but still they are using armor but in different way... same as in real life... we dont use an armor like a knight in the 1300 a.c. but still specialforces where a lot of protection, its just different becouse of time and development....😅😅😅
