Handles on YouTube

We’re introducing Handles – a new way for people to find and connect with creators and each other on YouTube. Unlike channel names, handles are unique to each channel, making it easier for creators to establish and maintain their distinct presence on YouTube. Your Handle will show across a few surfaces within YouTube – including your channel homepage, search results, the Shorts feed, within comments and community posts, and more. And it can be used off YouTube to promote your channel. We’re gradually rolling out handles to all channels over the coming weeks, and we’ll notify you in YouTube Studio and by email when it’s time to choose your handle.

I remember back in the day when YouTube channel names were just letters and numbers, no spaces or anything else. This reminds me of those days.

I’m fine with this existing, but I hate the fact that the handle is on the comments. It makes actual names pointless. This is pointless. Youtube is trying to mimic TikTok too much.

You should also make reporting scam reply bots and scam cluster bots more effective.
"Scam bot" should be an option to choose when reporting a message. This will increase awareness.

I hope there will be an update to disable handles. I don't think they are necessary for every YouTube channel.

This is ridiculous. I chose my profile name for a reason, now I just found out when I posted a comment and it showed up as coming from querty8017 that my actual profile name isn't being shown anymore. How the F is that helpful to me or anyone else? Why isn't this an option that people who want to use can use instead of something just pushed onto everyone willing or not, and without even telling us they were doing it, and how the heck does my profile name get turned into querty8017, only 3 of those characters are even in my channel name, it bears not the slightest resemblance to that. I got no email or notice about this, I only realized it because of my post and I only know what the heck is going on because I tried to search the web for why my profile name was being shown as querty8017. The many people who have seen my posts in my regular haunts and know me by my profile name are now going to have no clue at all that I'm posting stuff, they'll think I'm just gone. The people running youtube have shown that they're total idiots before, this just confirms it, again.
