GOG knows how difficult some games can be to find. They always wanted to make it easier to access them. Plus being DRM-Free versions means you own them. You got full freedom to do whatever you want with em. GOG staff are very nice people. At times they do giveaways that helps to build up your GOG collection. I actually won four games from GOG with one being Steam version of Killing Time: Resurrected. GOG Galaxy is pretty amazing as well. They are masters when it comes to making DOS games work. Not only that, they do got games you can only find there that's worth noting too.

I agree with you here. gog has the correct approach here where the games can be preserved and drm free so will be supporting them by getting games from them instead. Keep up the great video's

After a game is mine on Gog, I use a tool to get all the game installers I bought + updated ones too. Then the game is mine.

I used to avoid Steam because of the non-ownership issue when it came out, but the deals were too good to avoid. When I first got GOG games, my first thought was this was the more expensive Steam alternative lol. But was surprised it offered offline installers too. Missed out on 2000 to 2010-ish games so I'm happy some games from this era is getting remastered (Tomb Raider, Legacy of Kain, Fate, etc) and others still available on GOG.

Btw - I was able to back up some games on Epic, just need to check the PC Gaming Wiki to see which games are DRM-free. (I have tested a few and worked so far).

GOG is doing a great job when it comes to DRM free games, but they don't have the regional price right now, so game titles are way more expensive than other platforms like Steam and Epic, But yes, if they bring the regional pricing or close to regional prices bc I have seen some games that are similar to Steam game prices, but yes for now I have to stick to Steam because it's a good option for my pocket lol.

I kind of don't have any objection to their new terms, but if someone buys the game they should have the right to own the games digitally, just like the physical copies.

The thing is in today's world convenience and accessibility is king. So personally for me ill stick with steam for now but i love that for those who need it GOG exists.

Love your video lots of great info, i had no idea that Amazon Prime had a gaming section like that. I knew that people sold. Used games on there, but I had no idea about the digital section. I was able to claim two games that were on my wish list. So thank you very much you save me some $$ for sure.

I wanted to add that. For new people that make account on GOG. They get. A discount on a large. I'm out of games for. The first 5 days that you're on there. The first game that I got was.75% off so I think I spent like $5. Oh and by the way. I still use this dvd's disks. So the idea of getting a box game that doesn't have a physical disconnect and making my own to put in the box. Just. Makes me feel good in a certain kind of way. By the way I do have a 4 TB hard drive to store all these games. That's what I was doing with steam. I had well over a hundred games on that hard drive alone. So since I removed. 3/4 of the games off of there I definitely have the space. But I think I would recommend that. Getting a terabyte. Would allow you to be very comfortable? In having your collection.

I made sure to like And subscribe. I really Like your videos.

This is a deep subject with a lot of different aspects. Your idea about storing the GOG installers is fine but ultimately you will still be relying on the server files being there in the first place. I have more than one PC so I might see if a GOG installed game can be migrated from one system to another. If It can work for the two systems below then it might be a path I follow.

DDR3/NVIDIA/Intel/WIN10
DDR4/AMD/AMD/WIN11

If not then that leaves just two options. Emulation is one and I don't need to mention the other.

If GOG added regional pricing/local currencies they would become the most convenient store for gamers living outside europe and the US.
I personally only get games on GOG nowadays. Being required to have bloatware (yes including steam) to install, download or play a game is a deal breaker to me.

I will use GOG to buy all of my Singleplayer games or games that have lan or hotseat modes, for more recent online games I might still use steam tho

I would support GOG but they don't have a native Linux client, I know I can Install games without the launcher but i want achievement support natively.

It's high time gog adds local wallet options and maybe local pricing.

So after I buy and download a game from GOG, does that mean I can take the external SSD I downloaded the game on, plug it into a different computer and the game still works?🤔

I would support GOG if only they offered regional pricing like Steam/Epic does. As it stands, I can't. I only buy classic Hitman, TR n such games there for 1$.
