Awesome as per usual! I use dice to help deliver items/bonus XP. We play Kahoot! for reviews on Thursdays & the top 3 get to roll for either bonus XP or a random item. Shuffled deck of item cards, 5 dice, they add up the numbers after the roll and draw that number of card from the deck (Roll a 12=12 XP bonus or 12th card in the deck) Kids love it!

I use dice to add random events for my students, and during simulations. We have many items they can use from binders that require them to roll a dice to decide their fate. Today we rolled the dice to decide our Explorer's woes and trials as we study the founding of the colonies in a "pick your own adventure" type storyline. Unfortunately the dice have caused scurvy and typhoid on our ships today!!!

Dice makes it more fun because it removes any of my biases and kids just can't argue with them! It's a surefire way to have fun & not stress!

I'm loving your channel! Great video! A few times in the past, dice would randomly come up missing from our kits, so we had to stop using those games because we needed the dice to play! Sure, there are apps that can roll for you, but there's no fun in that. We like to the roll because we think our touch is lucky, and it puts us in the center of the action! Who knew something as easy as dice would be so engaging?! When the kids are part of the action...the learning...the fun...they absorb the information in ways they don't even realize (because they think they are just playing a game). So great! Well, after a period of time without incorporating games into our lessons, kids started to realize I really wasn't going to buy more dice (to replace the ones that were stolen). Slowly but surely, kids started bringing in a single die or set of dice to donate back into our class kits. ❤ They weren't having fun in class anymore, they weren't as engaged in the lessons, and they really weren't getting a firm grasp on what I was teaching. They mussed how class "used" to be. As time passed, I figured they learned their lesson about what happens when classroom items come up missing. So...I headed out to some garage sales and thrift shops to see if I could find some old games that I could re-design and put some spunk and excitement back into our lessons! I found a bunch of them, and when I got home I opened one of the boxes to find about 20 sets of dice in it...jackpot! I probably paid $0.50 for that one game, but walked away with a hidden treasure and the new possibility of creating 40 new game kits for our classroom. So, teachers, when you are out and about with a little time to spare, look for a quick sale or two to quickly run through. You never know what you will find...you could end up turning one class game into multiple learning stations or individual game kits, all for less money than you probably have in your pocket that day! :-)
💯✌🎉

Thanks for the great ideas as usuall. Just learning more ways to use dice. I had a review where I combined dice and powers. If they had a specific power and the correct answer they got to double their points (roll on the dice). Each question asked for a different power so kids were answering and hoping. So many different ways to change things up and raise the engagement.

Love the way you have combo-ed the items for utility axe and shield! The letter dice you used in the follow up video are great! Lots of possbilities. I picked up Rory's Story Cubes last summer and those are also great for team activities. Just had student teams complete and activity where they had to explain how the fur trade was like the picture they rolled.

As always great timing Michael! I'm getting ready this week to try a Boss Battle using dice. I'll let you know how it turns out. Love the ideas for items using dice. Cheers to the man who has mastered the art of "di"cing!!

I love it. Do you have the files you've created for your items that you've created?

Cool ideas! I'm just starting to gamify and items might be a future addition but I'm interested in using dice in some way. Thanks for your ideas (and puns are NEVER too corny... They're always just right!)

Thanks for the dice post. Love dice in my class. I have a power card similar to your Shield of Annubis but, since I'm US History, I call it "A New Deal".

I love the idea of using dice, but I need more information and ideas of how to use them effectively. I will be viewing more of your videos and following you to learn more. It does sound very exciting!

I have a few items that use dice and have had one boss battle where they rolled dice. I need to incorporate more dice in my classes.

I have been trying to use dice in my game this year. I use a 6 sided di to determine how many pieces of their index card they will get to keep. I also use a 30 sided dice as a multiplyer during the boss battles.

#1: Glad you showed your new item cards. I made mine and I was wondering if you had done anything with the back.
#2: When a S uses their Light Utility Axe item card (or any card) and wins XP, how do you manage that? Do you have a limited number of these cards? If not, might ALL students want to roll daily? Do you watch the rolling? If so, I imagine this takes some time away from other things. If not, who watches to maintain the integrity of the rolling?
#3: Where do the Ss keep their owned items? Do they have a maximum number of items they can possess?
