Against the Fires deck, I really messed up that match in a few different ways (with bouncing Fires in game one being a big one), and that probably made it worse by scooping early. My initial thought was to not include that match in the video because I played poorly and then was sort of salty at the end, but then that skews the record and has potential to make the deck look better than it really was, so I just let is go. My apologizes everyone.

"We scared a control deck right out of the will to live."
Is there anything better?

4:10 In my headcanon, Nick Lotus is a loose cannon cop who brings criminals to justice by challenging them to MTG.

I saw other people running fabled passage as an additional way to shuffle without having to pay mana

46:30 why bounce fires? It lets them cast more spells given the amount lands they had.
Also drawing with kiora first and then with cavalier seems strictly better, just because you see more cards. I love this deck btw!!

Seth draws 5 cards. 2 out of 5 being lands.
"Heh, mostly lands."
What? 🤣

Tbf i wouldn't class Thassa's Oracle as against the odds. It's legit.

this deck looks so fun to play, but super challenging. it seems there is always a ton of different lines to take. I think I had to pause the video a dozen times, just to see if I could figure out the best line I would take myself. great games Seth! thanks for the content as always!

Seth's math on the fly:
3, 6, 10... I don't know 100

Folio of Fancies has been a great addition to this. When you have a million mana and you don't have gadwick, it's another way to refuel

I feel like this deck could find a slot for a couple of WotS Ashiok... keeps opponent from tutoring lands with fabled passage and can be a great card to speed up self mill while also getting rid of their graveyard to keep Uros from ever escaping.

In a deck built around drawing cards and twenty-four lands, I'm sure Seth will find a way to get mana-screwed.

Did anyone else forget about Manifold Key? I just remembered that an artifact that untaps other artifacts exists in standard and could be used in Nyx Lotus decks that aren’t blue (and to a lesser extent, green)

Some of those matches felt like the two players weren't even playing the same format. Gods, I love Theros.

Thassa's Oracle is already breaking CEDH. Can't wait to see what waves this makes in other formats.

Nice to see I'm not the only one that is getting screwed on opening and mulligan hands. Its happen so much now

Now you need to try the merfolk self-mill combo in Modern!

Not on the list but should be: Karn animating Nyx Lotus to attach Gauntlets of Light for infinite mana shenanigans.

An Arcanist's Owl alone turns it on and finds pieces, Kenrith or Gadwick wins by drawing your deck into Oracle, Idyllic Tutor finds most pieces, UW control protection and dig in general... Lots of synergies, tutors, and protections available to make it way more viable than it first sounds (but still *very* AtO jank.)

I would cut at least one of the non basic lands. You've got 8 lands that, without any basic islands, prevent you from being able to play thassa's oracle on turn 2. You could keep a 2 land hand with thassa's oracle, but only if you can cast it on turn 2. That is a huge plus to this deck that those non basics are threatening. You want utility in your mana base, but a mono color deck really thrives on consistency.
