I have a tendency to "mirror" people. I'm not sure why exactly. I feel it's a way of connecting with people. I'm not always conscious of it. I find if I'm around someone for more than a few days I will start to use "their" phrases or start picking up similar speaking patterns. Sometimes it's because I like someone as more than a friend, and sometimes not. It might just be taking an interest in another person and showing respect. If you're not sure why someone is "admiring" you, have a conversation with them. The more you get to know the person, the more you will find out about how they might feel about you. And if it's not what you were hoping for, at least you might have a good friend!

If someone really admires you, they’d probably be going out of their way to avoid doing all these things. You could pick up mirroring because someone’s mannerism annoys you/gets stuck in your head so you can’t avoid it. Protecting someone could be done because you feel they’re inferior and want to prove something.

lol this is great. a sure tell-tell sum1 admires u is if they tell ur jokes to other ppl or feel comfy enough to vent to u:] back when i had friends before i pulled out of public school into online school all of my friends did this, none of them spoke negatively abt me cud i never gossiped, i was empathetic w them, and they'd always tell my jokes to other ppl and back to me which never failed to make me feel fuzzy inside
