SIM Max, hands down the best 3 wood I've ever hit and was the standout in my fitting. I got fitted this week with SIM Max driver and 3 wood, P760 irons and Milled Grind Hi-Toe wedges. I was actually going into the shop to be fitted with either Srixon or Ping clubs but I couldn't argue with the results from TaylorMade. Funny thing was the 3 wood was the last club to be fit and I was pretty tired, but I hit that club so well the fitter and I were lost for words. Shaft fitted was the Ventus Blue 7 stiff and I was hitting shot after shot off the deck 260 yards carry and straight. Can't wait to get it on the course.

Bought the SIM Max 3 wood, it is a beast. It is very good off the tee but unbelievably good off the deck...so easy to hit, hits it high with low spin. Have been playing Ping i25 3 wood which was very good off the tee but not great off the deck. The Ping always hit it a bit too low of the deck and a bit too much fade. My Ping was about a 225 yd carry where the SIM carry was about 235-240, so much higher and soooo easy to hit!

Just got fitted for SIM fairway wood. Needed to fill a gap in the top of my bag. I found a dream thanks to the team at Taylormade. You might want to give this a try. Ended up with a SIM 5 wood, added .75 of an inch to the shaft and knocked .75 of a degree off the loft. Fairway finding rockets.

Good review Al. Good highlight of the difference between 'whats feel' and 'whats real'. U hit the Max better than the SIM in this test, probably as it had more loft

I just got fit yesterday for these, same as you I preferred the feel of the Sim but it actually went too far, if you catch one and the spin drops off was getting distances up to 290 which isnt playable on the course. Sim max easier to hit and more consistent 255 carry so its gone in the bag.

I just tested the 14 degree Sim Ti with an X shaft and was hitting it like driver... 280s carry... absolutely unbelievable 3 wood! Not tested the max yet

Great honest review Ali. I don’t know whether you’d agree, but theses SIM fairway woods bases look very much like the old V steel that Taylormade had out years ago, but now they have a twist face in them.

3 years late but better comparison would have been 15d v. 15d with same Ventus Blue shaft. Still interested as I play Sim 3 and 5 woods.

Enjoyed the video! Do I understand correctly that you tested (1) SIM at 14° and (2) SIM MAX at 15°? Whereas the SIM MAX had a higher shot profile, I wonder how much of that is b/c of the difference in face angle? Keep up the good work!

Is the sim smaller than the max similar how was the m5 smalller than the m6.

Are you doing the reviews for yourself or the majority of amateur golfers !!
Just might be an idea to test the D Type Fairway as might be what lots of average golfers might prefer and not just what you like or want !!
