They separated. Shortly after, in an interview he was asked about whether he'd ever consider making films as part of his art. He said something along the lines of not liking the idea of a film/movie album. Melanie fans ran with that quote on twitter, calling it a shade towards Melanie because of K-12. Maybe it was a jab, but I always thought he was more likely just talking about his own personal preference with his own art. Not much else is really known. People like to speculate and spread rumours but I don't think that's fair when we don't know exactly what has gone on, as neither have said much at all about the situation. (Edit) Also, Melanie is a very strong woman, and if Oliver was abusing her, she definitely would not have ended on good terms with him. Idk why people came up with those rumors because that's awful to speculate on someone who doesn't have any proof of doing things like that. Also, Oliver Tree's "rude" and "meme" personality is a character, not how he actually is. Proof of this is his comic he made, which is completely based on the bowl cut Oliver Tree's backstory, and all his music videos are based on his book, including his giant scooter video. Also, why are people confused about Melanie dating him because he's so ugly? Huh, maybe she liked him for his personality and not his looks. People always say, "Looks don't matter!" And clearly, this is proof people are just saying it to seem better to others. To clarify I am a fan of both Melanie and Oliver Tree and I honestly think he didn't hurt her and they probably just got into arguments and decided to split up and remain friends.
