Hey Matt. This is very much an E-GMP platform issue that I’ve been covering for over a year now. Much of it had to do with the telematics pinging the cars too much (sometimes thousands of times per day) which wakes up the modem every time. It also has to do with the state of charge the car is left at. Try not to leave the car below 20-30 SOC. The platform was also originally developed using AGM batteries for the 12V system but to save money, they started using lead acid for production which as we know, doesn’t like to be discharged to a low level

I had this issue on my EV9, Jump started it, then run Utility mode for a couple of hours. 12V battery is now fully charged and car is starting on its own. I will now run utility mode once a week to keep 12V battery in good shape.

I'm glad someone acknowledged the issue. I didn't make out of the dealership. After test drive, EV 9 died while they were washing it. 2 weeks still at dealer, 1st they seem to think it something related to key fob, 2nd andriod auto, 3rd rear camera sensor. 2 weeks till this day, car is still at dealer. Disappointing.

We made it almost a month before the 12v died today. Only one of the 3 we had set up was Phone As Key. Got rid of that today. Either way, recommend everyone pick up a 12v jumper kit. Just in case.

I have a 2020 kia Soul EV and the 12volt battery died at two years. I replaced it with an aftermarket battery cheaper than the dealer prorated price. I see a couple of reasons, first and foremost is that Hyundai-Kia has no clue with software. second the charging voltage is often 15+ volts so the battery is cooking every time it charges. third, everything is an Easter egg it is videos like this that help us, not the dealer or the manual. Thank you.

Too bad. You shouldn’t have to turn anything off in order to save battery life. It should work the way it’s meant to be used - period. Hopefully they fix this.

Thanks for this video! I have a dead battery in my EV9 at the moment... Nice to see that you're listening to the Suzuki violin recordings. 🎻

Thanks for this video. I’m glad I saw it. I have an EV nine and it has never died. But I also have never set up the things that you talked about so I’m glad that I didn’t and I’m glad I saw your video before I set them up.

Hey Matt, thanks for the effort but none of these affect the 12 V battery it’s something else on specific vehicles and Kia is aware on those concerns

Phone as key and finger print for driver profit is actually very convenience. it's sad that you have to disable those future to prevent a issue that should never happen at the first place.

Thanks, I will be referencing this video when I get my EV9, hopefully a software update will fix these issues. Out of curiosity is the 12V battery located in the trunk?

I've got all those set up and have never had an issue. They are parts of the car and should be able to be turned on.

I have all these on my ev9 gt and use them except the locked charger, my 12v light is on a lot but I'm happy to see it on. Compared to my EV6 GT I rarely see it on but I don't have issues with that battery. I'll be upgrading to an Ohmmu LiFePO4 for the ev9 anyways to avoid all these issues others are having.

I own an Ioniq 6 essentially its the same car. I had a problem with my 12V dying as well (after owning it for 3 months). I like your video but I think the problem is Hyundai is selling these cars with bad batteries. I ended up replacing mine myself because Hyundai told me there was nothing wrong with it after 2 visits. I bought an AGM for $300. I seen one post where Tesla used to sell Flooded batteries (which what our cars comes with) but they had the same issues and they since switched to an AGM. It's been 3 months with the new battery and I haven't had any problems

Had similar issues on Kia Niro.
There is was the trunk sensor mostly. Now always have a chargable 12V starter onboard. Seems i will keep it once I get the EV9 end of this month...

This shouldn't be happening, Hyundai/Kia should fix this asap, should have been fixed over a year ago. If this happened to me I would be pissed.

My Genesis GV70 Electrified died the day I got the Recall notice about the issue.

Keep a NOCO charger in the car at all times.
