I did a 75 days no buy challenge while you did your 75 hard style challenge, didn't record my outfits but basically wasn't buying anything apart from necessities (eg food, necessary toiletries, and similar). This buying ban helped to put things into perspective and inspired me to shop less impulsively eg add items to my wishlist rather than my cart and wait one month before buying or only buy things that I have wanted for a long time. Thanks so much for sharing your journey with the challenge, I related to a lot of what you were saying!

i tried a no buy month in march and failed miserably thinking "oh no what if i can never buy this specific item again?" and it was honestly a way to lie to myself and justify my lack of control lol, i will definitely try it again, also you're right!!! i found out we don't have enough basics for everyday wear, we need to change out mindset and also spend less money so we can built a capsule wardrobe or at least have a wardrobe that encapsulates ourselves

I feel like as a plus size fashion lover, the impulse to buy something because you might never find it again is even stronger, because it's SO much harder to find items that will fit, period, let alone ones that fit your vision/aesthetic. So when I find an item, in my size, that is exactly what I've been searching for for years... it's hard not to want to buy them. It's like the search is so much less of a bombardment of clothing, and much more of a desert of no options when you're plus size. So the impulse to buy once you've found a dream item is so much stronger.

Good to hear your thoughts on this! I have watched your journey on tiktok and while the no-buy was inspiring, so was seeing your style, and I realised that I dont have enough basics🥲 been loving your simple quality sweaters and golden locket combination. I even went from never wanting to own a grey piece of clothing to actually being drawn to it after seeing you style your grey cashmere(?) cardigan! But I also need my clothes to be intentional, so I took up knitting. I am now slowly knitting a basic white/greyish alpaca sweater that will be a staple on my warderobe hopefully next fall. And while yarn can be expensive, you get to choose quality fibers in your desired color! So its a win-win.

As someone who is new to style and buying clothes, this is so fascinating to me that not buying something can be such a challenge! I feel like I'm the opposite I take so long to decide to buy something and often talk myself out of it easier than talk myself into it :P

You should totally try steel jewellery, same material as some body piercings. It won't shift colours. Or titanium pieces, that you can shift the colours once you are bored. Both are great options for people who tend to have allergies.
