I was all ready to hear the history of the tomato, it's origins in the Americas, how it was eaten and used as an ingredient there, how it was brought over to Europe and spread round the world, but...he stopped. Where's the rest of the video?

Columbus didnt land or explored Mexico. That was Cortez army, which later on brought foods from the new world back to Spain.

From Google:

Where did the tomato originally come from?

A1. Tomatoes originated from the Andes, in what is now called Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Ecuador - where they grew wild. They were first cultivated by the Aztecs and Incas as early as 700 AD.

The Andes plant but it was not eaten there at all. As a food, it was the Mexicans that used them a lot. Spanish Explorers starting using it on Mexico and also bringing it back to Spain where The Spanish were the ones that starting putting it on Pita Pies with cheese from Greece (Grecia). Pita and Cheese Pies- called by Italians as Pizza. Pitza is called too.

Tomato was also put on pastas and chicken recipies, etc, , first by the Spanish. So those dishes are Spanish Origin due they brought them to Europe and used them first in Mexico and Europe. Spanish Spaghetti is a known dish with tomato sauce..

In Mexico tomatitos Silvestres(wild cherry tomatoes) are the best for salsa! On the other hand, if tomatoes are from Peru why we know the fruit in Aztec Name? If the the fruit(tomato) went from Peru to the Great Tenochtitlan (Mexico), the most obvious thing would have been the fruit keeping it's Peruvian name, don't you think?!

Pita and Cheese Pies- called by Italians as Pizza. Pitza is called too. Pitza is Greek Pizza. With tomato is Spanish Pizza, not Italian. You have been lied a lot by the mafiosos, LOL..

Tomato was also put on pastas and chicken recipes, etc, , first by the Spanish in Mexico, then in Spain. So those dishes are Spanish Origin due they brought them to Europe after combining them first in Mexico. Even now in south Italy a plate called Spanish Spaghetti is a known dish with tomato the Spanish brought to Italy.

Tomatoes are originally from Peru, then brought up to Mexico and all over.. The Mexican language "Nawuat" word "Tomatel" was called Tomate by the spanish explorers who brough tomato seeds all over and Europe, and Italy who later on went bananas for tomatoes..

The fast music at beggining on this video is not Italian. That is Spanish Salsa Music. I was a musician in my youth and Im a Dancing Instructor for years. Mambo Dancing is Spanish too. From Cuba and Puerto Rico. Avoid those lies from arrogant Italians..

I can almost guarantee it wasn't anyone famous who brought it back and if you want to get real about it. The Vikings had some tomato plants as well meaning they went further south than people realized and were the first to bring it to Europe.

So what was Italian food culture prior to the American colonization period? Sounds like their culture started once EU invaded the americas

The tomato came from Peru like so many other varieties of produce etc. Italians and other European countries should acknowledge these facts.

A Wheat Pie with cheese and olive oil on top is as old as Ancient Greek Food. So cheese pizza is Greek. It is still called Pitza in Grecia. With tomato from Mexico added by The Spanish Explorers and Spain is then Spanish Pitza.

Pepperoni is another name for Spanish Chorizo (Same ingredients, different name in Italian).

To call a Cheese Pitza from Greece an Italian creation is Bullshit.
To call a Cheese Pitza from Greece with tomato added by Spain “An Italian Creation” is double bullshit.
If with Spanish Chorizo (Pepperoni) on it and you call it Italian, ITS TRIPLE BULLSHIT..
Avoid repeating BULLSHIT LIES. That is Columbusing (To claim something is yours after only changing the original name to your own).

"Pizza" is Greek flat Pita or called also Pitza. Flattened wheat pancake with cheese and olive oil on top. PItza. The Italians call it Pizza, The spanish were the first to put tomatoes from Mexico on Greek Pitza. Not Italians. Pepperoni is the Italian American name for Spanish Chorizo. Same ingredients, preparation, color and flavor too. PEPERONI IS CHORIZO WITH CHANGED NAME. You have been fooled for a long time by mafiosos.
