Despite having a 7950X3D and a 4090 in my setup, these low budget builds still get me excited when I see how much performance you can still get at such a low price, especially on the used market

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE THAT CASE! That's the cause of the high CPU temp. Gamers Nexus and other channels did a piece on it years ago (may have been the 500 but applies to 300 as well) and even though it looks like you have great ventilation you do NOT. PC Centric check it out and please don't ever use that case in any of your other builds because people may like it and use it and it's horrible.Thanks.

Around 18 months or so ago I used the same case and MB on a build for my brother with a 12100f 16gb ddr4 3200 cl16 ram and a 650 EVGA power supply. I had an old 960 video card I threw in temporarily. When I built my new system, I upgraded my brother's system with my old 1080. He pretty much just plays older titles like Skyrim. It works great for what he does with it. The stock cooler works perfectly fine.

And then there’s my £600 pc that gets only half the fps of this

That's an ever "older fashion" VGA connector on the mobo, young whippersnapper, not a DVI.

This is great performance for price if you want to go into pc gaming. One advice for all that want to get same parts - upgrade your case as this won’t be able to provide enough airflow to cool more power hungry parts especially intel cpu and high end gpu.

I’ve been building PCs for family members about 4 years now and getting this type of info has been integral to them getting the best they can afford.

I have this case. With a MSI B550M PRO VDH WIFI M ATX MB. XFX RX5500XT GPU Ryzen 5 5600X CPU 650 PSU. Just built it 3 days ago for my Daughters newest build from her current HP OMEN pre-built from 4 yrs ago. AMD Wraith cooler. Single 120mm fan in rear that came with CASE. I have 2 THERMALTAKE ARGB fans installed at the top of the case. hottest temps ever seen in this case was 70c constant for about 3 mins then it would go back down to 54c. If no load on GPU or CPU. TEMPS remain 40c and lower.. I LOVE THIS BUDGET BUILD.. NO thermal throttling whatsoever. I am pleased at this BUILD. It only cost me $400 to build. All parts new except GPU. I had the GPU since it was released with less than 8 hrs of use on it. This case is compact and very neat.. Airflow in this case is amazing with just 3 120mm fans.. Thanks for the vid. always like watching your vids. I THINK IT"S THE ACCENT. LMAO

Hey Marcus!
Just regarding the building on motherboard box section, the reason why so many do it is to 1) protect delicate component's on the back section and 2) Theres no static in cardboard which makes it motherboard friendly 😁😁😁

I need to find a local nerd to help me build 1 for my son. I'd like him and I to do it. But I literally have sent 2 emails in my life hahaha I'm 45 and not good with computers

I'm just saying. If 'Newt Scamander' built computers on YouTube. Here we are.

Actually for the price the i3 12100f is THE BEST CPU money can buy! Nothing even comes close. Pair it with GTX 1070 (the Intel Arc is around 8% faster), BUT it plays ALL titles to include triple A's with at least 60 fps. Nice build Marcus!:) My entire system cost me $420 to include a Windows 11 license. I bought the GTX 1070 used for $145 but that was nearly 8 months ago.

Marcus you have been forgetting to tell people to line up the gold arrows with the cpu lately so new people may bend the pins

I have a computer that shares the same RAM and CPU specifications as yours, but my setup includes a 6600 Eagle GPU, a Kingston SSD, a B760 motherboard, and the MSI M100R, which, in my view, has a much more appealing aesthetic. Upon testing it, I found that it performs admirably at 1440p resolution. Specifically, in CPU-intensive games such as Fortnite running at medium settings, the frame rates may dip slightly, but they exhibit improved stability compared to before. I also have to mention that the i3 is perfectly suitable, even for video editing at 1080p on davinci resolve.

Meh you probably could have shaved a few more bucks off going with an AM4 which would have given you a B550 with VRM cooling and 4 RAM slots along with something like the 5500 which would have given you 2 more cores and 4 more threads. As a nice bonus that would let you go for an X3D down the line which is still one of the best gaming chips out there.

Good guide. Motherboards, PSUs, and RGB are all potential areas to overspend on something that gets you a lot of unused features and miniscule or no performance gain.

Love the build! Intel is definitely a great budget option for gaming at the moment; especially if you want to create at the same time and use its encoders to help with that. The noise from the case is normal, I have that exact same case (Q300L V1, the V2 has larger grill holes) and it definitely gets "whistle-y" when gaming due to all the open sides; I think the smaller holes are a big part of that and the fact that extra fans I have at the front are stuck right on the grills. But if you don't care about the noise, the temps are great depending on your CPU/GPU and cooler.

I'm impressed. I'd personally go with a rx 6650 xt or rx 7600 if you can stretch your budget a little more, but what's listed in this video is sure to last you until the next cycle of GPUs.
