Why does the boss not take on the 4 clients? I am sure the boss is a superstar

If he takes this on, the employer will forget to replace her and this will "become his job".

My prediction for part two: that manager will have 12 clients to find coverage for.

Later
Manager: "a raise isn't in the budget."
Worker: "don't stress, you're a superstar, I'm sure you'll figure it out."

As soon as you show you can take on two jobs they get rid of the budget for the replacement hire.

I had a principal who had the philosophy that if something needed done, give it to the busy person. They will figure out how to get it done.
I was a teacher, coach, and the school’s athletic director. I was always busy. So he tried dumping assignments into my lap. I told him I was busy, and unless I was paid more, I wasn’t doing the assignments. Got mad at me when I didn’t attempt to do them and tried writing me up. Took an employment lawyer to end that mess.

Dont do it. Every time some company tells it's employees that something is "for now" always turns into "forever". And, im sure the replacement search timeframe would actually be 6 to 8 months if they even actually did look.

I am tendering my resignation effectively immediately because I am a superstar and will have no problem finding more suitable employment

"2 months ish" - they said that to me too. 7 months later and I was still doing the job.

Why would they start looking for a replacement in the future instead of right away? That just means they will just have them continue to keep doing as much work as they are doing now, because they've been doing it for 6-8 weeks.

“I’m sure you’ll figure it out” I am TRIGGERED!!!!

Ask them to send through the revised contract. That'll take HR about 6-8 weeks to finalise so problem averted!

Me “figuring it out” is telling you that I (knowing my capabilities and limitations) CAN NOT handle 4 more clients.

One of my old boss's was often seen looking at the football results whilst the shopfloor was in chaos. I once asked him to cover for 15 minutes so I could run an essential errand, and his reply was, you're doing great, keep up the good work, and put the phone down on me. 😮

The big favor is doing the job for the manager so he/she doesn’t have to take over Lucy’s clients.
