Waxx Demos The Gibson Les Paul Special Tribute DC

As a self taught musician, songwriter and guitarist WAXX studied the riffs of Guns N' Roses, Nirvana and Jimi Hendrix by watching live videos and pausing the VHS player to figure out the chords and positioning.

Years later, he's developed a style that he's incorporated to his unique blend of guitar and songwriting.

WAXX recently stopped by the Gibson Showroom in Los Angeles to check out the brand new Les Paul Special Tribute DC from Gibsons new "Modern Collection."

The Gibson Les Paul Special Double Cut adds a rhythm P-90 and 3-way toggle to the very popular Les Paul Junior and boasts vintage styling with a mahogany body and maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard.

Available in a variety of striking colors, the satin finishes lend a comfortable feel to the guitar and a quick feel to the neck. The two, classic P-90 pickups are reverse wound/reverse polarity for hum-canceling when combined, and they are installed along with the controls in a top-mount, 5-ply pickguard design.

The compensated wrap around tailpiece provides classic tone, performance and sustain.

That fretboard is dry!!! I have the Jr. Single Pu version. This guitar is awesomeness!!! And I know awesome. I have G&l, music man. AVRI Telecaster, Yamaha sa1200s among others in my collection. I found this guitar at a very good used price thinking I'd flip it but found myself very quickly becoming addicted to it!!! Honestly, addicted!!!

I would have bought one of these if it weren't for that square neck shape but since Epiphone has just released The les Paul special tv yellow P90's guitar with great round 1955 profile so i bought epiphone instead of gibson.

I wanted to do the same thing you have done with your lespaul junior. Although i dont have lespaul junior but its my dream thing. Its hard to earn money for lespaul junior which is my favourite guitar. But i thought in future if i have that guitar i will add pickup on neck and pickup toggle switch and custom the way you did. Nice tone though. Lovely guitar. Wish i could play that one

I like the guitar but this demo isn’t my favorite.

If these guitars have “medium jumbo” frets I’ll eat my hat. Lowest frets I’ve seen on a guitar. I don’t know planet Gibson thought it was acceptable to let guitars out of productions with a conscious decision to have such Rubbish frets. Aside from that it a great guitar but that’s a massive overtire which makes this guitar border on unplayable. The medium jumbos on my Mexican fender strat are legit twice the size in every way. Width and height.

Not a good sounding demo. Unfamiliar with the player, and not motivated by this demo, or his playing, to look into this further.
