I'm a programmer who found Sandi because of her OOD teachings, but this is the talk I keep coming back to. I think it is extremely brave to dare to call out the neoliberal doctrine that is causing so much hurt around the world. Sure, this talk is not about OOD, but it's about programmers lives and the lives of people around us, and I find it very relevant to my life and work as a programmer.

I own POODR by Sandi and reading it made me a better programmer. I've watched this talk now for the second time in the last few years and it makes me a better person. Lucky me :) tysm Sandi. Hope you and yours are good. This talk was needed.

Sandi is the consummate engineer.
Great engineers see things that are broken and have an overwhelming urge to fix them.

This should be in tiktok and blow up. What an amazing talk and this applies to most countries in the world, where in most places the wealth gap is far bigger.

Thank you for the call to action Sandi, and thank you for talking about something that is truly important. Tech is ephemeral, why we do our jobs isn't.

11:56 Does anyone know the addons that she has? I see Lastpass, Ublock and Evernote clipper. What are the other two?

as a latino, watching someone unironically put the "latinx" slur in a slide in an actual formal talk is depressing

Of course you can hack luck. Luck is preparation meeting opportunity so definitely within your control.

If you move people from the red block to to green block... you'll just make green block red. It will take time, but that's what will probably happen. Of course it needs testing.

As non-US citizen, If I'd buy ticket to this conference, I'd be very disappointed with this keynote. It's irrelevant, and misleading.
Really, I admire Sandi, but this talk is no-go in general, and, in addition, her bias shines through.
For example, if aliens would come to US (Sandi said "Earth", but her data covers just US) and become programmers, they'd choose to be asians. Unless they're dumb. Less than 7% of US population are asians, but, according to Sandi's data, they constitute 24% of programmers. So, they are the "winners" she was looking for, which is a very dumb and dangerous "search" to begin with. As ex-Russian, I know what might happen when people start searching for "winner" groups: everybody lose and violence becomes "justified".
Again, Sandi is entitled to her personal opinions, but using software conference platform to spread propaganda is no-go.

This talk has nothing to do with coding or Ruby. People paid for this brainwashing?
