E-3 Sentry AWACS at Joint Base Elmendorf- Richardson

The E-3 Sentry (AWACS) operated by the 962nd Airborne Air Control Squadron at Joint Base Elmendorf- Richardson. The E-3 Sentry is an airborne warning and control system, or AWACS, aircraft with an integrated command and control battle management, or C2BM, surveillance, target detection, and tracking platform. The aircraft provides an accurate, real-time picture of the battle space to the Joint Air Operations Center.

Wow. 25 years ago when I was stationed at Tinker a camera near a E-3 would give you personal time with SP and a LOR if not much worse. As far as engines go, the E-3’s we sold to Saudi had the big GE’s on them. We were told ours wouldn’t be upgraded because satellite’s would replace the aircraft within 5 years. That was ‘95.

Thanks for another great video AIRBOYD!Although I enjoy seeing the fighters, my favorite videos are of aircraft such as the E3, KC135, RC135, etc because they and their crews are the unsung heroes of the USAF and often don't get the accolades they deserve!

The haze and smoke seen in the background is from all the forest fires burning north and south of Anchorage this summer (2019). Air quality got really nasty at times.
