I was a jet engine tech for 8 years on this aircraft. The guys working on the engine were finishing up the installation of an IDG, Integrated Drive Generator. Loved this aircraft!

I used to work with these in the late 1990s. I would sit inside the disc on top and turn the crank that made it spin.

amazing that the E3 AWACS is a similar version of a B707 and the air force still kept those planes guess they are well maintained.

Ah, red balls at Nellis. One of the easiest TDYs I've ever been on. Luckily I went there as support for the E-3. Check the tools and equipment, sign everything out to everyone, watch daytime TV, check everything back in, clean and check inventory, and go back to the hotel. Easy peasy.
