Well. It used to be that way in the United States until people kept driving off without paying. Thieves always make things harder for everyone else because of retailers having to put in measures to stop the stealing. It’s a damn shame

The fact he says “I could just pup and go” is exactly why this doesn’t work in America

Used to be like that in the states until we got rid of honor, self respect, and personal accountability.

When he realizes the price is not for a gallon of fuel but litres... He might still bail.

This is how it used to be in the U.S. until worthless thieves ruined it for everyone.

Must be a very differnt experience for him here in germany
-you pump first
-you can drink and smoke in public
-you dont get randomly shot by police

“So I can just pump gas and go?” is the literal reason why the US makes you pay first now 🙃

We used to do that in America too, then the entitled idiots screwed it up for everyone.

Same in Canada. I can pump first and then pay. I knew a story of a guy in a rush that accidentally drove off without paying, he went back to the gas station to pay when he realized what he did.

My brother accidentally drove away without paying. 2 days later the police came to his house. The police was extremely nice and understood that it was an accident. My brother paid the remaining money and left some extra cash and everything was fine. Even if you drive away by accident, everything will be fine.

We used to order street tacos in Mexico. We sat, ordered, ate. The whole time the vender continued to make tacos for us and other customers. When we finished, he told us what we owed and we paid. I never saw anyone walk away without paying. There was a trust system.

Travelling in the US, I felt extremely insulted when they said that I had to pay first because they automatically put me in a category with thieves.
I was paying with cash. They asked me how much petrol I wanted, and I told them that I wanted to fill it. I didn't know how much it needed. They told me to give them more than I would need, then return to the register for my change. So, I had to go into the building twice. They make it very inconvenient to pay with cash.

In America, you used to be able to pump your gas and then pay. But too many people were driving off without paying

Out here in Nigeria, the gas attendant does everything for you and you don't even have to leave a tip

There are cameras at every gas station in US. They just don’t care who is watching them steal gas.

First time in the US I was standing there for 3 minutes trying to get the pump to work before a guy came over told me you have to pay first. I said “but I don’t know exactly how much I’m gonna need”. Crazy US system

I truly love and miss being in Germany. I was in Wiesbaden and love being there. The people food culture and beautiful cities and gardens I visited was beautiful.

what he said is EXACTLY why most stations here don't allow you to pump first anymore, cameras or not. They will get ripped off.
