When a plant decides it doesn’t want to live here anymore #plantcare #maranta #plantpropagation

The plant that had my heart the most was this lemon lime maranta.

I still don’t know what caused this maranta to decline as fast as it did. After filming, I inspected the roots and all was healthy. The beauty and worst thing sometimes about plant care is sometimes the decline of a plant can be a mystery. This maranta has a story, and having to chop it like this really hurt my heart. They do well propagating in water so I hope she makes a speedy recovery.

It's cheering to see that other plant momma has problem like this that comes out from "nowhere". At least the spring is closer and closer, we just need to be patient. I hope your maranta will recover to its greatest again.

My grandma had one of these forever. Probably like 30+ years. Same plant and it never died. Got bigger. But that thing survived through everything. Wish we still had it but it disappeared after she passed. I’m determined to get one and have it be as big as hers was.

My lemon lime maranta has been thriving for like three years. They’re picky about moisture, so don’t let them completely dry out—I use a Blumat watering spike to help. They also need to be pruned occasionally, which will force them to be bushier and to push out more stems from the root ball. And those brown tips on the leaves are probably from using unfiltered tap water because they’re divas like that (hence why mine is named Linda Evangelista).

SAME thing going on with my Red Maranta.
I'm going to have to try something new with it. Propagation too.
I'll definitely be interested in the follow up video to this!

Cutting between two nodes (directly in the middle of the stem between the nodes ) is called internodal cutting

Oh my god I've been waiting for a Maranta video! Mine is doing weird shit in the winter too but thankfully it's still doing fine. I'm sorry for your beautiful plant friend.

Because I’m in Southern California my maranta lasts all winter and just grows and grows, I trimmed her to make new plants. Probably it’s just too cold or dry in your house. They’re Brazilian plants so they like the heat and humidity. You can spray it with water and turn up the heat or put it near a heating pad. Make sure there’s no drafts in your windows.

I think plants just get tired and need a refresh sometimes. 💚 I hope she recovers well and grows to be even more beautiful than before!
