Seven Eleven being everywhere is SUPER convenient, basically every sort of products and food are sold there and the ibon system allows you to print, scan, fax+etc...

Taiwan is probably my favorite country in Asia. It is not like the overpopulated, filthy PRC, has beautiful scenery and kind people, and is a light, sensible Democracy, with a little Japan sprinkled on top. ;)

The garbage truck music is "Beethoven-Fur Elise".  It's broadcasted to play the music to call the people's attention in the vicinity to bring out their trash for the passing garbage truck. The garbage trucks have daily fixed schedule and they are not the same in all districts.  So different hours for different places, some at 8pm, others are earlier or later.  But, mostly around nightime in Taipei where most people are at home from work. Citizens are not allowed to throw their trash around and must wait for the garbage truck to throw their trash. Newer and modernized residential buildings have their own building management administration and pay monthly fee. So, there is a centralized trash collection area (any time of the day) and the trash are taken cared of by the building management staff/personnels.

I'm from Belgium and in a few days I leave for Taiwan for a year.  I heard that Taiwanese people are generally very friendly. I really hope it will be a great experience.

Went there a couple weeks ago with some friends. there were 5 of us and we ordered 2 of the shaved ice toilets...and it was too much for us to finish...so much iceee. but i bet Mike could finish one! haha.

I was just in Taiwan! I got to stop there for five hours before my flight transfer but those were five great hours spent! Feeling worried about the typhoon warnings though. Stay safe <3
