As someone approaches the final minutes of their life on Earth, it's said they see a bright light leading them to the afterlife, but what does science say you see as your body shuts down and you prepare for death? In today's video we are looking at death, and trying to understand what happens to our bodies to make us see such crazy visions.

My wife's grandfather recently passed away, his death was gradual and peaceful, all happened over the course of about a week and he was not conscious for the final few days so who's to say he wasn't re-living some of his most fond memories or maybe even his entire life? A couple of hours before he eventually passed members of the family said their goodbyes and I got to say mine, I gently held his hand and said goodbye, I felt him squeeze back ever so faintly and that's when I knew he was saying goodbye to me too, although it was sad it was also one of the most beautiful moments of my life.

I’ve always imagined death to be an extremely painless and peaceful experience. You slowly drift or fade away while simultaneously going through some of your fondest memories. The memories help to ease or distract you from the fact that your life is finally coming to an end. You remember all of the loved ones you met on your journey and how significant of a role they played in your life. You also remember the bad times and the decisions you’ve made, and how the outcomes or choices you’ve made could have been improved or avoided. Either this or you simply relive your life, but in the best way possible.

Actually, the words _"You Died"_ appears in blood red letters in a black background, and then you're suddenly gone. Nobody can convince me otherwise

People's lives sometimes flash before their eyes when they have an encounter with me in the forest

I had a near death experience, I saw random memories that I didn’t know I had. It was random and no it’s not your whole life, all I saw a race I saw on tv and i think a picnic I had when I was younger.

Honestly this makes sense. When I was 11 I started having frequent seizures and the worst one nearly killed me. But what was different about it was that I felt all of those sensations while simultaneously being completely aware of what was going on around me. Apparently from what my doctor said (it happened at Cincinnati Children's Hospital), I was officially dead for approximately 22 minutes. They actually already had the staff coming down with a bag and all, but my doctor refused to give up on me. I woke up and at the time I didn't understand it and for quite a few years I didn't until recently within the last 5 years where people have been actually questioning what happens when we die and I've had a lot of questions answered. My experience shows that we can receive information, but with our mental state upon death we can't do anything about it and I believe our brain subconsciously understands that and doesn't make it a priority any longer. From movement, to speaking, it starts putting priority on simpler tasks like memory or dreaming.

I'm not spiritual or religious, but my grandpa told my mom that an angel came to visit him one night and told him it was, "time to go." A day or so later, he died. It's possible he was merely trying to comfort us (he was always thinking of others first); growing up I spent a lot of time with him and he never struck me as the type put a lot of stock in superstitions.

Near Death IS NOT Death. Bottom Line: nobody knows.

I had a near death experience. I was in the pool when I was little and still did not know how to swim. I was reaching the deep end of the pool and went under. My eyes were closed of course but I swear I could see everything. I did not react to anything I more or less accepted everything. I was going down deeper and deeper and it felt tranquil. I thought that the bottom of the pool was opening up and I could see myself almost slipping into the black void. That’s when my dad saved me. I don’t know the exact details after that.

I nearly drowned when I was younger and it seemed like the world was closing in on me. I saw the water at the end of a tunnel and I was falling into memories and emotions.
