US President-elect Donald Trump is filling key posts in his second administration, prioritising loyalists for top jobs, with his cabinet to feature the richest man in the world, a motorcycle riding gun-toting governor, and a man who hit someone with an axe on live television.

Some key 'controversial' names are vocal vaccine sceptic Robert F Kennedy Jr who is to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.

Matt Gaetz has been tapped for Attorney General. Gaetz has been a fierce defender of the president-elect, and has accused prosecutors of anti-Trump bias, calling the criminal investigations into the him “witch hunts.”

Trump's one-time rival Marco Rubio is to be Secretary of State. The Republican senator from Florida was a fierce critic of the president-elect during the 2016 Republican primaries. However, like many in the GOP, he shifted his rhetoric to remain relevant in the Trump era.

Tulsi Gabbard, a former Democratic representative and critic of the Biden administration, has been nominated as Director of National Intelligence.Gabbard is a vocal sceptic of the war in Ukraine and has little direct experience in intelligence work.

Members of the Senate will vote on each nominee and get the chance to ask questions before making their decision, any controversial picks are likely to be blocked - even with a Republican majority.
