I don't think many people can appreciate the significance of this discovery. This raises a lot of questions about how this non-euclidean representation gets rendered in the euclidean space that we perceive from day to day. This is exactly how you get a look at how spatial cognition relates to what cognitive maps (and possibly the physical environment by extension) might actually look like.

I'm starting to believe that the entire universe is shaped like a torus. I remember there ws a theory at one time that the universe could actually be shaped like a donut...so a torus would make a lot of sense.
