NO, Ali! Walz did NOT retire from the Natl. Guard several months AFTER his unit got orders to deploy. Walz retired several months BEFORE those orders were issued, just as the New York Times article on your screen says! Now is not the time for unfortunate slip ups such as using the word 'after' instead of the word 'before'!
Not to mention that it would be irrelevant if Walz HAD retired from service AFTER those orders had been issued. It's not as if a service member, after 24 years in service, just wakes up one morning and decides, "I'm done! I'm retiring today! I'm going home!". It doesn't work that way and Vance knows it! So even suggesting such a thing is an insult to every veteran and every current member of our military! It's as if he thinks they, AND we, are idiots!

Fact check yourselves you fools! Walz was officially retired TWO MONTHS BEFORE his unit got orders! He had filed his papers to run for Congress before this unit even got the official warning that they MIGHT be deployed in the next year or so.

I have been there - my Navy Reserve unit got a notice that the ship we were attached to could be deployed to the Gulf within 9 months. Our command began preparing and we all began preparing our families. We were never deployed. When Walz put in for retirement, no one knew for sure if his unit would be sent to Iraq.
