Anybody else find it amazing that we are getting DCS dogfighting instruction from a real Navy Rear Admiral and fighter pilot? Fantastic presentation.

I can't believe you got Admiral Nasty to show us armchair pilots how to dogfight. I'm both humbled and honored to watch such a video. Great info!

Watching the Admiral reaching for the canopy to push himslef around was indicative of how real this was for him. Right back in the seat again. Man these warriors are NEVER too old!

Ward I have endless respect for you guys. I think we may have been on a couple boats at different times in mid and late 80's. My platoon, Marines, were attached to various boats in the Med and Westpac cruises. Any free time, which being a Marine on ship, is Alot. But I'd spend as much time as possible up on the Catwalks, or bribe talk my way in LSO pit. I could watch you guys all day long.
This is just a small taste of the hundreds of hours spent in the classroom, before ever touching a single switch.

It's great to see 'Nasty' & 'Mooch' in their element, reliving their career and passing on the info (if only for a sim) to those with a similar passion and interest. Thanks again for contributing to DCS and the aviation field as a whole!

The exchange at 26:06 cracked me up.
Nasty "Yeah see, we're getting really slow because it's hard to maintain..."
Simulator "I feel the need! The Need for Speed!"
Nasty [totally deadpan] "OK, that guy just got fined for saying stupid Top Gun thing"

That was a master class, for sure. You GOTTA ask him to keep doing these videos. This is just WAY too cool! Question: Does the Admiral have DCS on his home machine? I ask because it would be SO tough to see you two flying together. Would like to meet this gentleman. Seems like a way good sport, and neither one of you guys knows HOW much I appreciate your time, as well as his, for these videos he does. Thank you!

Tks. I graduated in Class 82/07 in Reese AFB as a foreign student Pilot. Too many years ago. I attended BFM at Holloman AFB. Your board presentation reminded me that time studying and practicing hard all the Air to Air and Air to Ground lessons. When you Sir turned around on the right and simulated the hand on the canopy It made me instantly remember how hard was to keep the head around under all that Gs, to be able to talk on the radio with the wingman and still trying not to loose visual contact with the opponent. Simulator, as you said, will never reproduce the physical strain on the body and on the neck when dogfighting. Many thanks for the good memory both of you brought me back, regards.

A little DCS video tip: When making this type of video I've found it's helpful to turn down the game master volume. That way the game sounds don't overwhelm the instructor's voice as it did a few times here. I hope that helps and please keep up the good work. I learned a lot!

When i was younger (40 years ago) i would never guess that a few decades later i would watch 2 aviators (the real deal) teaching us in my favourite sim in VR. This is mental. Really appreciated, and thank you for sharing.

You can tell nasty was a rough problem to solve in the air. He just needs more stick time in the game. Ward you also may want to look into increasing the resistance in your stick to help with the constant over correcting in the plane. Just a thought. Just seemed like it was a little too light for him. Thanks for the video mooch!

I get the vibe Nasty is having fun being back in the instructor role even if its for us "digital" guys these days. Thanks for all the knowledge both of you are willing to continually share for all of us!

Nasty and Mooch... This was absolutely awesome. Having read Nasty's book and hearing about his ejection on a podcast, this has brought my perspective on this full circle. I was just a helicopter pilot and this really gives me much greater insight to what tactical aviation is all about. Just fantastic. Fun to see this after a long day of seeing patients.

At first I didn't know what to expect but this brought some very fond memories .... Back in 2000-2002 as young HAF Tech Sergeant I was hanging out with the F-16 jockeys at the QRA "hut" talking about the very same principles . At the end of our duty shift we would go home and get together on line in our Falcon 4 sims .2v2 or 1v2 was so fun even when real viper guys massacring the servers ...
