Bleriot XI - assembled and eventually crash landed (1/72)

This stopmotion clip shows the assembling of a vintage old kit from 1965, the sketching of a diorama and the diorama itself.

Many thanks to Dirk S., a good friend of mine, who gifted the little gem.

He challenged me with this early piece of plastic modelling and I accepted - with the use of some additional parts from Brengun and lots of tiny rods and tubes from Albion Alloys.

The book I used as a base is a very old collection of stories I found at a flea market in very bad condition. Therfore I had no worries using it as dioarama base.

I hope you like my combination of several techniques and the story of a very old kit modified and placed on an old book.

The Bleriot XI first flew in 1909 and was famous for it's flight over the English Channel. It was also used as a training aircraft for the "Deutsche Heeresverwaltung" in 1913.

A poetic model building, a lyrical diorama execution. Your little show is so emotional, imaginative and passionate. Bravo Tom.

Another excellent build and video. And the idea with the book base was amazing 👍

This is not a diorama, this is a sculpture of a story.
I think you have just won that competition that you haven't entered yet.
You have captured the very essence of the era.
I take my hat off to you Tom.

Only you can take something like this old model and create something more out of it than originally intended. Beautiful work.

OMG Such extreme patience and talent. I would die for 1/2 of the skill set that it takes for the model building, and airbrushing alone..But No! that's not good enough!. He adds the stop motion into it, just because. What a complete genuine master of this art form.. Bravo!

Danke!

Love the original presentation idea. Film-making and model building first rank, as per.

My word, what did I just watch there. This has to be the most sublime I've seen in a long time.

Masterfully crafted in a beautiful video.
