Catan is a considerably easy game compared to most games hardcore boardgamers play but it's relatively difficult compared to the games casuals play. But it's definitely the gateway into more complex games.

Settlers of Catan is very easy to learn, and not even very hard to master. Once you've mastered it, it ends up truly being a game of pure luck.

If they had chosen a game that is actually complicated, this would have been funny, but I think it completely misses the mark. Maybe if it had been about the Game of Thrones board game, it would have been a bit more appealing to fans of the series, and those who know the game. I taught my nephew to play SoC in one sitting, and by the end of it, he already remembered everything there was to the game mechanics. Come on, people.
