How To Use Layer, Clipping Mask, Alpha Lock & Layer Mask • + Cheat Sheet! • Procreate Tutorial

Learning how to use layers and masks (Alpha Lock, Clipping mask, and layer mask) is one of the simplest and most effective ways of improving your digital art workflow! You can think of masks as the digital version of stencils and tape: they let you pick the area(s) where you want - or don't want - to draw.
This video will teach you EVERYTHING you need to know to start using masks in Procreate, no matter how experienced you are with digital art.
In the first half of the video, we'll look at the very basics of layers and masks. In the second half, I'll show you an example of a complete illustration workflow using all 3 types of masks - from adding textures to shading.

I’m watching this as a Procreate refresher because it’s been a long time since I’ve used it and I forgot a lot of basic stuff. Gosh though, I had originally learned about these things through a supposedly all-inclusive Procreate course that I bought, but it didn’t even cover some of the tricks that you showed in this short video. And the things that it did teach, you demonstrated way better here. I wish this had been how these concepts were initially introduced to me.
