In the weaving world a diaper fabric is generally a fabric with an "all over" pattern that repeats across the entire piece from hem to hem and selvage to selvage. So in this context I think it is appropriate since the pattern "fills" the enclosed (outlined) space it's given without regard to the shape being filled.

In this video you show a sampler piece in a hoop that has goldwork around it. Is there somewhere you explain the sequence you did this - did you put it on before or after the goldwork and which wire or thread did you use? Many thanks
